Setup works great an windows 2008. Just make sure that you run the schedule task with elevated privilege. Run the config part as administrator and what took me a while to figure out is that the only way the service install is if you copy the exe to the dotnet folder.

I also had no problem installing on w2k8 x64, although I did not have to copy any executable to any dotnet folder (suspect you have a path problem...)
