I have too many reserved addresses to split the DHCP scopes between two servers for redundancy. I has using netsh import and export for a backup plan. But this was a manual setup on the 2nd server.

My DHCP server fell and my boss tore into me because the workstations were down for too long before I got the system up and running again.

Your program is just what I needed. It does everything I set up by hand, but automaticly.

Thanks,

Hello, this is a long read so grab a coffee or coke, what ever is your poison.

Firstly, I like the idea of DHCP redundancy implemented this way.

Now, I'll get straight to the nitty gritty.

I am having trouble putting it into practice. I have read the other posts in regards to sync issues and tried some of the fixes that they have suggested but the fixes have not worked for me. So let me explain my issue in more detail as it's a slightly different issue in regards to syncing.

Excellent work. Great tool!

It is running here on two German server (test environment) and it is exactly doing what it should do.

I tried to simulate all possible reasons why a DHCP server goes down. DHCP-Redundancy succeeded to start the second server – every time!

The installation is really a piece of cake; just follow the great step-by-step instruction and that’s it. The only smaller issue I had: I had to start the DHCP server manually before point 19 during the installation… ...

The problem is on my desktop dhcp client: when I'm adding any new dhcp server (the one on windows server 2003 or the one on the firewall), and that the main primary dhcp server is disabled, the clients can't get a new ip adress.

I found that I have to disable the ethernet card (using disable on the "local area connection" in the "network connections"), and then I have to enable it.

We set this up yesterday. Ran the batch file and with a few minor errors, it worked great. Of course, we need to change the %1 in the .bat file to the IP address of our secondary. And we also needed to make sure we spelled DHCP-Redundancy correctly when naming the folder on the secondary server.

We tested the scheduled task and all scopes were ported over to the secondary server. THis was awesome. I then created a new scope with ...

Hi.

Just curiuos, how many downloads do you have?

I'm considering implementing this in our 4 DHCPserver/3 sites/6000+ users environment... Can i trust it do to the work?

My plan is to use 5 VMWare servers as DHCP backup servers located at the same sites as the primary ones.

We have a lease time of 3 days today, not sure why, should i change this? We have no reservations for out DHCP-clients.
